Car Key Now a Posh, Smart Accessory for Display On the Bistro Table – Show Us Yours

It is often considered rude or impolite in some cultures for one or more of several people sitting around a table to have their car keys out on the actual table surface itself, as if to show everybody what nice a choice of vehicle they made.

This makes feel some insecure types feel inadequate, but not all find it offensive, though, and one does get to see a diverse selection of ignition keys, cards (some Renault models) or Emotional Control Units (for newer Aston Martins) in this way.

Adrian Newey Crashes Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo on Formation Lap

F1 designer Adrian Newey crashed his Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo on the formation lap of the second race of the Super Trofeo at Silverstone during the last weekend.

In the first race on Saturday, Newey had finished eighth. As you can see in the video below, he was less successful during the second race on Sunday. Newey lost control trying to warm his tyres on the Hangar Straight and hit the wall, causing enough damage in the warm-up lap to rule the car out of the race.

BMW's DesignworksUSA Creates M8 Compact Gaming Computer

Tablet sales may be soaring nowadays, but when it comes to playing games or working, you still can't beat a good 'ol PC (personal or desk computer) combined with one or more large screens.

While most mainstream computer manufacturers and even boutique assemblers opt for lackluster cases that look no more interesting than the cardboard boxes they are delivered in, some companies try to push the design envelope creating pieces of art. The BMW Group's DesignworksUSA is one such example.

Lamborghini Gallardo Goes up in Flames at Gas Station

A dark silver 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 has burst into flames in the U.S. after an ordinary stop at a gas station went horribly wrong.

According to the son of the owner of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2, his father was returning home to Houston after attending the Indy 500 race. However, when he stopped and began refuelling the car at a gas station about 130 miles from home, the expensive Italian supercar burst into flames completely destroying the rear end of the car.

The Rotary Diaries: Crashing my RX-8 and Dealing With the Aftermath

Pride comes before a fall, as yours truly can testify. More than two decades of driving, the best part of them behind test cars, I prided myself on having a clean record. Sure, I was handed some speeding tickets and I did have my share of near misses but, somehow, I had managed to steer clear of an accident.

Now that record has been blotted by an accident in my RX-8; it was a low-speed one and, thank God, no one was hurt. Ironic that I would return the keys to every car handed to me, from a low-rent mini to a Porsche or a Bentley (the latter the company CEO’s personal car, no less) with not a scratch on them but I would crash my own car in a spectacularly silly way…

Fast & Furious 6: A Perspective from Down Under

Being based in New Zealand poses some difficulties - driving is done on the wrong side, outsiders think we all resemble Hobbits and movie releases can be a bit behind the rest of the world. So watching the latest Fast & Furious had to be done upside-down and a few days after the American premier. Not to worry, technological advancements in fibre optic Pigeons can now allow me to relay a perspective from down under.

Here's Why Trying to Play Ogier Near a Lake is a Very Bad Idea

We're all for having some tooth-knocking fun on the gravel with your car, but you should always be aware of your surroundings and the dangers they possess when something goes wrong, and adjust your pace accordingly, otherwise you'll have someone yelling "Pourquoi, pourquoi, pourquoi?", which is French for "Why, why, why?".

Interesting Kickstarter Project: An RC Car-Quadcopter Called "B" [w/Video]

There’s just something fascinating about RC vehicles, which makes people of all ages spend a lot of money on what some would dismiss as mere toys. Well they are toys, but not in a childish way, as some like the “B” car-quadcopter are quite serious and advanced machines.

Currently in its Kickstarter project phase, “B” is the brainchild of a UK-based product designer called Witold Mielniczek who is very close towards reaching his goal of raising $131,500 (€100,800) – the sum he deems necessary to get things going.

Toyota GT 86 Rent-a-Car Performs a Painful Crash-Exit at the 'Ring

An accident is never a pleasurable experience, but at least this particular driver did not crash his own car.

The unnamed motorists who was captured on camera at the Nürburgring racetrack by a YouTube user "Automobilchannel" was behind the wheel of a Toyota GT 86 (marketed as the Scion FR-S in North America) rent-a-racer when he came into a turn a little too fast and continued straight into the grass before face-lifting the Japanese coupe on the metal railings.

Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi Does a Barrel Roll in his WRC Citroen DS3

If you haven’t heard of Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi, he is a World Rally Championship (WRC) driver from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Active since 2002, Al Qassimi, who as his name suggests, is a Sheikh, entered the WRC in 2004, first driving a Subaru Impreza WRX, before moving on to drive a Ford Focus, then a Fiesta and now, most recently a Citroen DS3 which he recently had a bit of fun with during the Acropolis rally in Greece.

Reckless Subaru Boy Racer Learns the Hard Way that Public Roads are Not Racetracks

Unfortunately, for regular drivers minding their own business, sometimes they share the road with so-called boy-racers who mistake public streets for Need for Speed video game stages. Considering that many of these boy racers drive powerful cars, like the person in the following video, the outcome of their “adventures” is far too often a tragic one.

Ford Mustang Loses Traction, Takes a Swipe at Porsche 911 During Highway Race

And this is why they don't use real Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis or any other expensive sports cars during the filming of street racing scenes in films like the Fast and Furious or the upcoming Need for Speed flick…

B(r)ought to you by the crew from ThatRacingChannel (TRC), who for legal reasons cunningly state that, "The following video was digitally created in Mexico on a closed course," is this incident and almost costly accident that occurred when a heavily modded Ford Mustang drag raced a 997-generation (that’s the previous one) Porsche 911 on a public highway.

Warning, Micro Car Mayhem Film Contains Graphic Clay Content

Ah, the wonders of modern camera technology; combine that with some creative thinking, and ladies and gents, you have a winner, which in this case, is the Micro Mayhem short film made by the team at Buddy Laboratories.

It's a stop-motion-style animation that features two Micro Machines, including a sheriff's Pontiac GTO and a truck with a…license to kill, on the chase.

Driver Slams Into a Pole, Quickly Jumps Out to Visit Outdoor Bathroom

I guess if you have to go, you have to go. As scary as this accident may look, the way it turned out can only cause laughter. Allow us to explain.

The driver of the vehicle with the dash-cam noticed an Opel Corsa from the opposite lane veering off the road before crashing into a light pole. Instead of driving away, he did the right thing and turned around to provide help, but what he saw upon arriving at the scene was not what he expected…

The Opel Corsa driver had already exited the vehicle and was…taking a leak, unfazed by the accident and relieved.

The author of the YouTube video and likely the person behind the wheel of the other car commented: "The driver of the gray car wanted so badly to go to the toilet after the accident that he ran out the car for his need - perhaps this was the cause of his accident with the pole."

Russian Lada Low-Riders on a Very Tight and Bumpy Budget

You may or may not be surprised to learn that there are fans of low-riders in mother Russia – just not with the kind of vehicles most of us have associated this car-culture.

Instead of the usual Chevy Impalas and Oldsmobile Cutlasses that you see in the U.S. or the large Toyota and Nissan sedan models in Japan (VIP-style), in Russia you'll find low-riders in the form of the Lada Priora economy car.

Lamborghini, Ferrari and Other Luxury Cars go up in Flames on Thai Trailer [w/Video]

Here's a story that's being making the news rounds in Thailand today, and all for good reason, because, while it's not uncommon for exotic supercars to catch fire on the road individually, having four of them turned into useless scrap metal on a transport trailer is a rare occasion, to say the least.

Yet it happened on a road in the resort district of Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima, in Thailand when a fire that is said to have started on a BMW, which spread on a Lamborghini Mucilageo and then onto a Ferrari F430 and a Bentley Continental. A motorist from the opposite lane purportedly alerted the driver of the truck about the fire.

Epic Drag Race Fail When Toyota Driver Forgets Truck In…Reverse!

Many things can go wrong during a drag race, but we cannot think of anything more embarrassing than heading towards the opposite direction once the green light comes on.

It all happened earlier this week when a Toyota pickup truck driver was performing the traditional tire-warm up procedure by sprinting back and forth. Unfortunately for the Toyota driver, he forgot to get the gearbox out of reverse the last time he did it before the race, so once it started, instead of going forward…he went backwards!
